New storage facility for old paper at our plant in Loenen
At Smart Packaging Solutions, we never sit still and are continually investing in our plants. In line with this, our plant in Loenen recently took a brand-new storage facility for old paper into service. The new store offers a number of benefits: more storage space and improved fire safety.
Higher stocks, more dependability
At our plant in Loenen, we make new solid board packaging from old paper. We use paper from the region as much as possible. The bales of old paper are stored in the new open store, that is larger than the old one. “Previously we had a stock that would last four days”, explains plant manager Kees Emons. “In the new storage facility there is enough stock for us to be able to manufacture for five to six days. We can stockpile up to 1400 tonnes of old paper and that is 300 tonnes more than the old store.”

Safety sets the tone
Safety is always a top priority at Smart Packaging Solutions. Which is why we store paper outdoors at our plants for the sake of fire safety. With the new storage facility for old paper fire safety really is safeguarded. “The store has been built with sturdy stacked concrete blocks and as such forms a robust fire wall”, says Emons. “This will ensure that any fire will not manage to spread. In addition, the blocks are made of waste concrete and are reusable – a great example of sustainability.”
With this investment we take a wonderful step towards greater efficiency and safety!
